Bereavement

Staff are often faced with dealing with those who have recently lost a relative or friend.

What do you say in such situations? How can you understand what the client is feeling?

So many questions and emotional problems occur at the time of bereavement and clients turn to professional services in order to get an answer. Staff know the practical matters and how to deal with them – but what of the emotional issues for both the clients and staff.

Westlake’s’ bereavement Awareness course opens up the topic of bereavement and not only discusses the issue it offers understanding so that staff can best manage a difficult time in the client and their own lives.

The course also looks at our own grief and helps when the time comes for us to face grief in our personal lives.

Many bereaved and grieving people want someone to talk to but dare not ask, whilst those faced with those in mourning either say nothing – or say the wrong thing.

The course cannot ease or even remove the pain a death can cause but it will open the doors to communication and understanding.
